The wait is over!
The ‘On the Flats’ exhibition opens on Saturday 19th November at the Museum of Nottingham Life at Brewhouse Yard.
The exhibition will include a film about the Flats, which includes ex-residents talking about their memories of living and growing up at the Flats, plus archive footage of the Flats such as old television news clips – loaned to us by the Media Archive for Central England.
You’ll also be able to see treasures from the Flats including a piece of concrete that was salvaged when the Flats were demolished in 1988, a street sign and a 1970s vibro massager!
The exhibition will also include information and photographs about Hyson Green before the Flats were there; how the Flats were built; life at the Flats; key events from the Flats including the 1981 Nottingham Riots and ‘Blues’ music parties; the Flats’ structural problems and the demolition of the Flats in 1988.
The exhibition opens on Saturday 19th November and runs until 15th January 2012.
